15 Bobi Wine Supporters Arrested for Vandalising President Museveni’s Campaign Poster

15 members of the opposition National Unity Platform party in Uganda, have been arrested and charged with destroying President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign posters.

Police say the 15 vandalized posters in the capital, Kampala days before the president visits the area.

“The suspects are charged under Section 78(2) of the Presidential Election Act, which criminalises the manipulation of advertisements and campaign materials,” Chimp Reports said.

The suspects are being held in Luzira prison and are expected to appear in court on July 29th.

The arrests come as political temperatures rise after President Museveni was nominated on July 5th as the candidate of the ruling National Resistance Movement party in the January 2026 presidential election.

If re-elected, Museveni, 80, who came to power in 1986, could extend his rule to about 50 years.
