Tanzania police officers on Monday morning, blocked journalists from accessing the Chadema Headquarters building in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam.

This comes moments before Chadema Secretary General John Mnyika addresses the nation through a press conference scheduled for 11 PM. But that now seems to be a toll order for the opposition party after heavily armed police officers staged a blockage at the party Hq gate, turning away journalists who had come to provide media coverage.

From the videos that are circulating on social media platforms, a plain cloth police officer is captured pushing away a young journalist from entering the press conference venue.

Also, a van believed to be from Azam TV was forced to turn back after police denied it access to Chadema offices.

Police officers are currently patrolling the premises, but their intentions remain unknown. No official communication from the police has been issued.
