Youth urged to adopt innovative tactics to influence policy-making in Kenya

The Young Peoples Network International (TYPNI), a membership-based, youth-led, and youth-centered non-profit organization on 14th Feb 2025, conducted a Transformation Leadership Skills Conversations Program for 40 Presidents and Deputy Presidents from 20 counties representing Association of County Students’ Associations of Presidents – Kenya (ACSAP-K).

Speaking to the discourse held at the Kenya Institute of Special Education, Miss Charlene Ruto, the Youth Champion and Patron of the initiative emphasized the importance of a mindset shift for young leaders. Through the initiative we are encouraged to adopt innovative approaches and critical thinking in addressing societal issues, thus igniting generations of change-makers, and empowering them to shape the future together

”Kenya’s youth face significant challenges in governance, socioeconomic development, and climate resilience. Despite their active involvement in policy engagement, this leadership discourse aims to retool 40 Presidents and Deputy Presidents from 20 counties, thereby igniting a generation of change-makers and empowering them to shape the future.”

The program provided a platform for youth leaders to explore innovative solutions, creative partnerships, and impactful leadership strategies that will enable them to influence policy and governance at county and national levels.
