The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been invited to investigate an alleged embezzlement of at least Ksh250 million at the Nairobi City County Assembly.

According to complaints filed by two activists, the funds in question were reportedly spent on recent renovations, installation of CCTV systems, and the purchase of new television sets within the assembly precincts.
The activists have named Speaker Ken Ngondi and Clerk Edward Gichana as key officials who should be placed under probe over alleged irregularities in the award and execution of the contracts.
Preliminary reports indicate that the contract was allegedly awarded to Abdikhani Ibrahim a Somali-linked syndicate said to have secured multi-billion-shilling tenders from various government departments through questionable means.
The complainants allege that the procurement process was marred by inflated costs, lack of transparency, and possible collusion between top assembly officials and the contractors.
EACC sources confirmed that the commission has received formal complaints and is analyzing documents related to the controversial project before launching full investigations.
If proven, the scandal could expose yet another major case of mismanagement and misuse of public funds within the Nairobi County Assembly—an institution already facing scrutiny over past audit queries and procurement irregularities.
