FKF engages Council of Governors on grassroots football partnerships

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed today met Council of Governors Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi alongside FKF General Secretary/CEO Dennis Gicheru and branch representatives to discuss partnerships aimed at accelerating grassroots football development across Kenya.

Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed today led an FKF delegation in a meeting with the Council of Governors (CoG) as the Federation seeks to deepen collaboration with county governments in advancing grassroots football development across the country.

The meeting, held with CoG Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi, was attended by FKF General Secretary/CEO Dennis Gicheru and branch chairmen Bernard Omondi, Dickson Doyo, Danson Njuguna and Boaz Kaino, with discussions centred on how county governments can work alongside FKF branches to strengthen football structures at the local level.

Speaking after the meeting, Hussein noted that the country’s expanding sports infrastructure presents an opportunity to establish sustainable football programmes capable of nurturing talent and increasing participation nationwide.

“H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto has laid a strong foundation by delivering sports infrastructure nationwide, with nearly 30 facilities under construction. He has given us the hardware, and as a Federation, our responsibility is the software, building vibrant leagues and competitions that unlock talent development opportunities for millions of our youth,” said Hussein.

The FKF President emphasized the importance of county governments in achieving the Federation’s grassroots agenda, noting that partnerships at the county level will be critical in creating opportunities for young people through football.

“County governments will be pivotal partners in this investment. Through collaboration, we can ensure every county becomes a hub of opportunities for the youth and football becomes a true driver of social and economic growth,” he added.

The engagement forms part of FKF’s broader efforts to strengthen football ecosystems across the country through structured competitions, improved pathways for players and closer collaboration with key stakeholders.
