Popular and Celebrated Television legend Oprah Winfrey unexpectedly appeared at the Democratic National Convention in her native Chicago state, where she urged party supporters and undecided voters to “choose joy rather than nonsense.”
“Let’s choose truth, honor, choose happiness,” Winfrey told a cheering crowd on Wednesday. “Because that’s the best of America.”
Winfrey, who has avoided political involvement in recent years, showed pride in Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, on the third night of the four-day convention.
Supporting the two has helped energize the Democrats — which this week has seen the emergence of many celebrities such as rapper Lil Jon.
