A clinical officer has been arrested after allegedly raping a pregnant woman during a medical visit at Chemaner Health Centre in Bomet.

Witness accounts and police reports indicate that Eric Langat, popularly known as Kirinyet, was discovered in a compromising situation with the woman inside a consultation room after colleagues rushed to respond to her distress call.

Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa stated that the victim’s alarm immediately drew the attention of medical staff and other patients present at the facility.

The incident was swiftly reported to Chemaner Police Station, prompting officers to mount a manhunt.

The suspect was eventually traced to his hideout and taken into custody. The victim was escorted to Longisa County Referral Hospital for medical evaluation and psychological support.

Langat remains under detention for interrogation and will be presented in court once investigations are finalized.
