Deported Kenyan Activists Threatens to Sue Tanzania Authority

Former Kenya Chief Justice Willy Mutunga is among three Kenyans who were dramatically deported back to Nairobi after being denied entry and briefly detained at Tanzania Airport.

Mutunga and activists Hanifa Adan and Hussein Khalid have not taken the deportation orders lightly and have vowed to take action against President Samia’s administration

Speaking after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, the three have threatened to sue the Tanzanian government over what they term as infringement of their fundamental rights.

‘’We are consulting with our lawyers in regards to a legal redress on these matters. We shall sue the Tanzanian authority in the East African Court of Justice. We must ensure our frustrations and infringement of our constitutional and fundamental rights are legally addressed’’ said Vocal Africa CEO Hussein Khalid.

Mutunga, Hanifa, Hussein, and Karua are among Kenyans who fly to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to offer Chadema chairperson Tundu Lissu Moral and Legal support in his Treason and incitement charges. But the four were denied entry at the Julius Nyerere International Airport.

Only former Chief Justice David Maraga and a few other Kenyans were allowed into the Kisutu Magistrates’ court where Lissu’s Case was mentioned.
