Kenya’s Harambee Stars battled to a 1–1 draw against Angola in a dramatic CHAN 2024 Group A clash at Kasarani, securing top spot with four points from two matches.

Angola struck first in the 7th minute through Jo Paciência, but Kenya responded swiftly as Austin Odhiambo converted a penalty five minutes later.
The match turned tense when Marvin Nabwire was sent off in the 21st minute, forcing Kenya to play with ten men for over an hour.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Stars held firm, surviving a late scare when Angola’s stoppage-time goal was ruled offside by VAR.
The draw follows Kenya’s opening win over DR Congo and places them ahead of Morocco and DRC in the standings.
Coach Benni McCarthy praised the team’s resilience, while fans at Kasarani erupted in celebration, hopeful for a historic CHAN campaign on home soil.
Next up, Kenya faces Morocco on Sunday, August 10, in a high-stakes clash that could determine their path to the knockout stage.
