Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has clarified that the security detail for Justice Lawrence Mugambi was recalled for routine VIP security training.
This move came after concerns were raised by the Judicial Service Commission and other agencies, who saw it as a potential act of intimidation following Justice Mugambi’s sentencing of Masengeli to six months in jail for contempt of court.
Masengeli emphasized that the recall was purely administrative and not intended to compromise the judge’s security.
He assured that suitable arrangements were made to ensure Justice Mugambi’s safety during the training period.
