Tanzania police officers have beefed up Security and mounted roadblocks around all intersections and roads heading to Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court, Dar es Salaam, where Chadema National Chairman Tundu Lissu’s case is being mentioned.
Journalists have been banned from accessing and covering the trial proceedings. Thorough frisking was also done on all persons entering the courtroom.
Chadema Party officials and supporters have also been banned from accessing the case proceedings. Those who attempted to move around the Kisutu Resident court were turned back and chased away.
Lissu’s trial will be heard today at Kisutu Resident Court by Senior Magistrate Godfrey Mhini.
Tundu Lissu’s case failed to take off last week after he declined to be heard virtually. He was arrested nearly a month ago and has been charged with treason, incitement, and dissemination of falsehood.
