Justice Antony Mrima elected to replace Majanja at JSC

Justice Antony Mrima has been elected as the new male representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), replacing the late Justice David Majanja.

The election was held by the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) in Kisumu on September 6, 2024.
Justice Mrima secured the position with 95 votes against his opponents Justice Sila Munyao who secured 27 votes and Justice James Olola who got 15 votes, on Friday .

Mrima was appointed a High Court Judge in 2014 and has previously served at Kakamega, Migori, the Constitutional and Human Rights Division of Milimani, and Kitale High Courts.

Mrima was admitted to the bar in 1998 and possesses a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi as well as a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Human Rights from Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) named him Best Judge of the Year for 2023.
