The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a five-day forecast warning of continued rainfall and cold conditions across multiple regions from Friday, July 11 to Tuesday, July 15.

Heavy rainfall is expected in the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and Highlands West of the Rift Valley, including counties such as Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot. These downpours will likely be accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the afternoons.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, will experience light showers and cold, cloudy conditions. Minimum temperatures in these areas may drop to around 11°C, with chilly nights and overcast mornings.

Coastal counties—Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and parts of Tana River—are also forecast to receive intermittent rainfall, while the South-Eastern Lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta) are expected to remain mostly cloudy and dry.
