Kenya Sevens finish third at Edmonton 7s

Kenya Sevens finished third in the Edmonton Sevens after a convincing 33-14 win over hosts Canada in the third-place playoffs clash played at Commonwealth Stadium on Monday morning. The win saw Kenya complete a second consecutive podium finish at the shortened World Sevens Series that ended in Canada.

Kenya was up 14-0 up off tries by Nelson Oyoo and Alvin Otieno, both converted by Levy Amunga but went to the
break with a 14-7 lead after Canada responded with a Jake Thiel try. In the final half, Canada restored parity after an Alex Russell try spruced up by Prevost conversion tied the scores at 14-14 to create nervy moments.

However,  Willy Ambaka try, booted in by Amunga, had Shujaa up 21-14 before Otieno completed his brace to stretch
it to 26-14. Billy Odhiambo, featuring in his 50th tournament, rounded up the final touchdown that he converted for the final 33-14 score line.

For a place in the Bronze contest, Kenya lost 33-7 to eventual Edmonton 7s winners South Africa in the semis.
