Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan among ten nominees for the World Female Athlete of the year award

World 1500m champion Faith Kipyegon has been named in the top 10 in the race for the 2022 Women’s World Athlete of the Year.

Other nominees are; Tobi Amusan, (World 100m hurdles champion), Chase Ealey, (World shot put champion and world indoor shot-put silver medallist), Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, (World 100m champion, claiming a fifth gold medal in the event), Kimberly Garcia, (World 20km race walk champion to win Peru’s first ever World Athletics Championships medal).

Shericka Jackson, (World 200m champion) was also nominated alongside Yaroslava Mahuchikh, (World indoor high jump champion and world high jump silver medallist), Sydney McLaughlin, (World 400m hurdles and 4x400m champion) and Shaunae Miller-Uibo, (World 400m champion).

The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics Family will cast their ballots by mail, with fans voting online via World Athletics social media.

Personal photos of each nominee will be posted across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Fans can vote by likes of photos on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube or by sharing them on Twitter.

World Athletics Council votes will be counted on 50% of the results, while World Athletics Family votes and public votes will each be counted on 25% of the final results.

Voting for The Best Athlete of the World will close at midnight on October 31.

At the end of the voting, five female and five male winners will be announced via World Athletics’ social media platforms in early December.
