In the heart of Tana River County, a beacon of hope is shining bright. The ‘ALIVE’ programme, a partnership between global nutrition leader Kerry and humanitarian organization Concern Worldwide, is empowering smallholder farming communities to turn the tide against climate vulnerability and food insecurity.

For rural Kenyans, farming is a daily battle against the elements, limited resources, and unpredictable market prices. But thanks to ALIVE, farmers are getting the support they need to thrive. The four-year initiative is providing training in climate-smart agricultural practices, improving access to quality farm inputs, and connecting farmers to reliable markets.
The impact is already being felt, with an estimated 6,000 people set to benefit from improved food and nutrition security. Women, who are crucial to the well-being of their households and communities, are being empowered to take charge.
“Kerry is committed to making a local impact,” says Fawzia Jamal, Marketing Director Africa for Kerry. “We’re proud to partner with Concern Worldwide to implement innovative solutions that help make Zero Hunger a reality in Kenya.”
Alex Ogeto, Country Program Manager for Concern Worldwide, agrees. “This programme is changing livelihoods in Tana River,” he says. “By providing skills training, access to capital and markets, and improving health and nutrition, we’re seeing a direct, positive impact on farming families.”
With its focus on empowering smallholder farmers, ALIVE is an investment in local solutions that could feed millions across Kenya.
