For the first time in more than ten years, Kenya Airways is once again profitable after being bolstered by the state’s restructuring of its debts and decreased susceptibility to changes in foreign exchange.
The airline reported Ksh. 513 million in net profit for the first half of 2024, which is the most notable achievement.
This significant turnaround is attributed to their strategic recovery plan, Project Kifaru, which focuses on customer service, operational excellence, financial discipline, innovation, and sustainability.
This is a remarkable improvement from the Kshs 21.7 billion loss reported in the same period in the first half of 2023.
The airline experienced a 22% increase in overall revenue and a 10% increase in passengers as a result of improved operational efficiency and passenger demand.
The net margin also improved markedly, moving from -28.9 percent in June 2023 to 0.6 percent in June 2024.
