Nelson Havi, the former president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), recently disclosed that his net worth is about Ksh1.2 billion.
He made this statement during a television show on December 2, 2024, emphasizing that he is not a man of shallow pockets.
Havi cautioned against asking “silly questions” if he donates Ksh 5 million in church, highlighting that his wealth is well-documented by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
“My net worth is about Ksh1.2 billion. So, if you see me donate Ksh5 million in church don’t ask silly questions” he said.
Havi’s remarks come as he announced his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
Havi believes that with veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga focusing on the African Union Chairperson seat, there is a leadership vacuum that he aims to fill. He believes there needs to be an alternative to President William Ruto, who is expected to seek re-election.
”I will be running for President of the Republic of Kenya in 2027 because it is now quite evident that there ought to be an alternative to Dr. William Ruto,” he announced.
”My cousin Baba (Raila Odinga) is quite determined that he remains at the continental level instead of coming here. If Baba doesn’t want to do it, some of us will do it,” Havi added.
Havi has criticized those eyeing for 2027 presidential sit, stating that they have not shown serious opposition to President William Ruto. Havi reiterated his belief that he is Kenya’s top choice for the presidency, positioning himself as a strong alternative to Ruto.
However, Havi has disclosed the party he would be using to run for the Presidency nor did he indicate that he would be vying as an independent candidate, leaving a lot of speculation about his political strategy for the upcoming election.
