Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, during his 80th birthday celebration on September 15, 2024, promised to offer free education in all government primary and secondary schools. Speaking at a gathering in Nakaseke District, Museveni emphasized the importance of ensuring every child has access to education, regardless of their family’s financial situation.
“No child should be paying school fees in government primary or secondary schools. We will tackle this issue,” Museveni said, stressing that parents should not have to bear the cost of fees.
The president also mentioned plans to improve infrastructure, such as roads, in different parts of the country. He urged Ugandans to demand better services from their leaders, noting that it’s their right.
The birthday event, held in Kijjaguzo village, was marked by prayers and attended by Museveni’s family, political supporters, and religious leaders. He expressed gratitude for his life and those who have supported him throughout his journey, both personal and political.
Museveni has been in power since 1986 and has led Uganda through economic progress and political challenges. His administration has faced criticism for human rights issues, but he remains a key player in regional and international affairs.
