President Samia Suluhu to Chair Key Summit in Tanzania Focused on Ending DRC Crisis

Kenya’s President William Ruto has confirmed that both Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame will attend an urgent summit this weekend in Tanzania, aimed at tackling the growing crisis in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The summit, to be held in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, will bring together top leaders from across Africa, including South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, and Somalia’s Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The event, hosted by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, will start on Friday with ministerial talks before heads of state meet on Saturday.

This summit comes amid rising concerns over rebel group advances in the DRC, particularly the M23, backed by Rwanda, and the growing diplomatic tensions between several African countries. The discussions are expected to focus on restoring peace and stability in the region, which has seen increasing violence and displacement.
