President Samia’s fierce critic, Humphrey Polepople, abducted

Former Tanzanian Ambassador to Cuba and critic of the Tanzanian government, Humphrey Polepole, has been attacked and violentlypicked up from his Dar es Salaam home by unknown individuals.

According to his relatives, Polepole’s abduction occurred on Monday night, October 6, 2025, at his home in Dar es Salaam.

Video images have been circulating on social media in Tanzania showing broken doors and bloodstains on the floor in the house where Polepole was reportedly living.

Polepole’s young brother, Godfrey Polepole, said that his abduction is true and they have already reported the matter to the Mbweni police station.

“These reports are true. We arrived at the house where he was staying and found the door broken, the electric wires cut, and a lot of blood spilt. We have come to report to the Mbweni police station,” said Godfrey.

Humphrey Pole Pole resigned from his position as ambassador and was officially stripped of his ambassadorial status following the revocation of his appointment by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

His decision followed what he expressed as dissatisfaction with the conduct of various affairs in Tanzania, claiming that he could not be part of a government that disregarded the principles of justice, law and the country’s constitution.
