Sean “Diddy” Combs, a hip hop artist, record producer, and businessman from the United States, has been denied bail for the third time by a judge in New York City.
Two judges initially rejected a request to release Combs from custody, citing concerns that he might tamper with witnesses, and considered it too dangerous if he is released before the trial, which is scheduled for May 2025.
“For the following reasons, Combs’s motion is DENIED — no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community,” federal judge Arun Subramanian said in an order.
Judge Subramanian also denied Sean “Diddy” Combs’s application for release from detention to prepare his defense. The judge ruled that Combs had not demonstrated that his release was necessary for trial preparation
“Combs has not carried his burden of demonstrating that release from detention is necessary for trial-preparation purposes,” the judge wrote.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing serious allegations, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. The allegations include claims of sexual assault, abuse, and coercion of women, with some accusations dating back over 20 years. Combs is accused of running a criminal enterprise that involved forcing women into sexual acts, often recorded and referred to as “Freak Offs”
However, he has maintained his innocence and has also denied more than two dozen allegations of sexual harassment filed in a series of civil cases.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York awaiting trial scheduled for May 2025.
