Tanzanian authority ordered to present Lissu in court on 19th May for his trial

A court in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, has ordered the state to physically present Chadema Chairman Tundu Lissu in court on May 19th for his trial.

Lissu’s lawyers say they are happy with the verdict because Lissu’s non-prosecution and the public’s ban from attending would have set off deadly opium in the state.

With Lissu’s being taken to court, the Public will also be allowed to go to the hearing as the law allows

However, lawyers have asked those who will go to court to observe the dignity and duty to do so peacefully.

Regarding the way he is treated in prison, being denied access to his lawyers on a regular basis, and having conversations with them in private, the Court has said it has no authority to order how the prison operates.
