A tragic incident in Kitengela, Kajiado County, has left one police officer dead following a confrontation reportedly sparked by a romantic dispute.

The altercation occurred on Thursday evening at Geoffrey Flats along Deliverance Road, involving two officers attached to Kitengela Police Station.
Police Constable Manasseh Ithiru is believed to have died after falling from the fourth-floor balcony of an apartment occupied by 27-year-old Irene Wavinya Nzioka.
Investigations suggest that Ithiru and Sergeant Abubakar Said, both romantically linked to Nzioka, arrived at the residence unaware of each other’s presence. A physical altercation ensued, allegedly culminating in Ithiru being thrown from the balcony.
Emergency responders found Ithiru in the parking lot with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Shalom Hospital, where his body was later transferred to the mortuary for postmortem examination.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) processed the scene and recovered a Ceska pistol assigned to Sergeant Said. No gunshots were reported.
Both Sergeant Said and Irene Nzioka have been taken into custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Police have assured the public that a thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted.
