Tundu Lissu Says He’s Fed Up with State’s Tendency to Adjourn His Treason Trial Case

Chadema chairman Tundu Lissu has today, 15th July, told the Kisutu Senior Residence Magistrate’s Court that he’s fed up with the state’s tendency to seek court prayers to adjourn his treason charges every time he appears in court for proceedings.

‘’ Today is the 97th day while in detention. I am being convicted alongside those who have been sentenced to date. I am fed up with these stories” said Lissu while defending himself in court.

The state counsel has yet again today sought orders from the court to postpone Lissu’s case to allow the witnesses to get proper security arrangements before they can testify and be cross-examined

According to the state counsel, Mr. Nassoro Katuga, the evidence incriminating Tundu Lissu is ready. Once the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) approves the prosecution, the case will be taken to the High Court.

The state has also filed a case in court to seek witness protection orders.

However, Lissu has opposed the prosecution’s prayers.
