President William Ruto oversees swearing in of the 6 new judges

Six judges appointed by President William Ruto were sworn in on Wednesday.

The event was overseen by Ruto at State House.

Ruto appointed the six judges on Monday after his inauguration ceremony.He appointed Korir Kipyegon, Muchelule Otsyula, Odunga  Vincent and Joel Ngugi.The six judges had earlier been rejected by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.He had also appointed two other judges of the Environment and Land Court.

In His speech after the swearing in of the 6 judges, President Ruto admitted that there is need to support the judiciary to dispense justice.

“I’m aware that there is need for us to support the Judiciary and is supporting the Judiciary we can not only dispense justice but also make justice less complicated and more accessible… It is important that we have an efficient, independent Judiciary,” President Ruto said.

President Ruto also added that his administration will respect the judiciary’s independence and also promote dialogue between institutions and positive engagement.

“My administration will respect the independence of the Judiciary and all the other institutions in a manner that makes them efficient to deliver on their respective mandates. We will promote dialogue between institutions and positive engagements,” President William Ruto further said.
