The 19-nation CHAN, restricted to locally-based players, is a precursor to the top-tier African Cup of Nations, which is due to be held in east Africa for the first time in 2027.
However, renovations on Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium, originally built in 1987 for the Pan-African Games, have been plagued with issues.
In January, the African body delayed the championship from February to August after some facilities in the three host east African nations — Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda — were not up to scratch.
On Thursday CAF said in a statement that the Nairobi stadium would host the final on August 30. It will also host the Group A qualifying matches.
Welcoming the news, Football Kenya Federation chief Hussein Mohammed thanked CAF for its “trust and guidance” ahead of the games.
“All eyes are now on Kenya as we gear up to deliver a w` orld-class tournament,” he told AFP.
Tanzania’s William Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam will host the opening match on August 2, while the third and fourth matches will be held in Kampala’s Mandela National stadium.
It is the first time the second-tier continental tournament is being co-hosted by three east African countries. Rwanda previously hosted the tournament in 2016.
