Five family members have died in an accident in the Mbaruk area along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
The five Ambani’s family, which comprises a woman and four children, all sons, were killed on Tuesday morning, August 13, when their vehicle collided with a truck in the Mbaruk area of Gilgil, Nakuru County.
According to reports from Gilgil Sub County Police Commander Jamleck Ngaruiya, the accident occurred at 7 a.m. when the Mercedes Benz driver, identified as Christopher Ambani, was overtaking on the wrong lane and collided with the truck that was heading in the Nairobi direction from Nakuru.
Gigil area OCPD Jamlek Ngaruiya says the driver of the Mercedes car was overtaking, leading to the head-on collision.
“The woman and the children died on the spot while Ambani was rushed to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was admitted, said the OCPD.
The woman and the four children died on the spot, as the driver survived and was rushed to Gilgil Sub County Hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased were taken to the Gilgil Sub County Hospital Morgue.
“We visited the scene and moved the bodies to a morgue in Nakuru,” OCPD Jamlek said.
