Freeman Mbowe, the incumbent chairman of Tanzania’s largest opposition party, Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), has publicly congratulated Tundu Lissu, who is currently leading the party’s ongoing leadership election.

Although the official results are yet to be announced, Mbowe expressed his respect for the process and his support for Lissu’s potential leadership.
In his statement through his X account, formerly Twitter, Mbowe said, “I fully accept the results of the CHADEMA internal leadership election.. I congratulate Hon. Tundu Lissu and his team for being trusted with the responsibility of leading the party. I wish them all the best in moving our party forward.”
As Lissu continues to lead in the race for the chairmanship, the election results remain eagerly awaited, marking a critical moment for the future of CHADEMA’s leadership and politics in Tanzania.
