President William Ruto has announced that the government’s Affordable Housing Programme has significantly generated 200,000 direct job opportunities across Kenya.
“To date, the programme has generated 200,000 direct jobs, with thousands more emerging through the building and construction value chain that supports housing development,” Ruto stated.
Speaking on Monday during the 11th National and County Governments Coordinating Summit at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said that every county in Kenya stands to benefit from the government’s ambitious housing program.
Ruto said currently, 124,000 housing units are at various stages of development, with a target of 840,000 units to be completed over the next four years.

The Head of State added that the scale of ongoing and future projects under the Affordable Housing Programme, promises millions of additional jobs for Kenyans which is a means of fostering inclusivity and fairness while giving lower-income families and workers access to affordable housing
“Beyond providing affordable and decent homes, the programme promotes equity and inclusiveness while creating millions of jobs,” he added.
