William Ruto was sworn in as Kenya’s fifth post-independence president, five weeks after his narrow victory in a highly contested but peaceful election.

Several regional heads of state together with thousands of citizens packed Kasarani stadium in Nairobi to watch Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua take the oath of office.
