Around 125 people have been killed in three days of violent clashes across Mozambique amid opposition-led protests over the presidential election results, a non-governmental organisation said Thursday.
Mozambique is braced for the validation Monday of disputed election results, with the opposition leader vowing “chaos” if the ruling party is confirmed as the winner in a standoff that has already claimed at least 130 lives.
The southern African nation has been rocked by violence since the October 9 vote won by the Frelimo party, which has been in power for almost 50 years.
The election takes place amid political tension in the southern African nation plagued by high levels of poverty and inequality, while jihadist violence in the north is holding back major gas projects.
