Chadema Chairman Freeman Mbowe and the Chairman of the Youth Council (BAVICHA) John Pambalu have been arrested by the Police in Mbeya shortly after landing at the Songwe airport. The two were traveling to Mbeya to follow up on the ongoing confusion about the arrest of the party’s Officials among them the Vice Chairperson Tundu Lissu who had been arrested as they planned to hold a political rally to mark Youth International Day in Ruand Nzovwe stadium in Mbeya Town.
The Party’s youth Wing Bavicha had planned a national celebration to mark the day and make major political resolutions.
However, their agenda has been thwarted by the police force over claims of planning demonstrations against the Government of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Those arrested Alongside Tundu Lissu are Secretary-General, John Mnyika, and the Nyasa Zone Chairman, Joseph Mbilinyi.
Also arrested were hundreds of youths who were traveling to the event.
