Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has challenged the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) to consistently provide accurate weather forecasts.
He emphasized the critical role of reliable weather information in various sectors, including agriculture and aviation, especially in the context of global climate change.
“This institution is critical. Not only to Kenya but to the entire world. Aviation experts depend on your information. The Ministry of Agriculture use your information to plan Kenya’s food security,” Duale said.
Duale also exalted KMD for modernizing its equipment and technology, which according to him it has led to more accurate weather predictions and increased public confidence.
He has promised to commit himself in supporting the institution’s efforts to leverage new technologies and ensure wider dissemination of weather forecasts.
