Tanzania opposition leaders Freeman Mbowe and Tundu Lissu have been released from custody close to 12 hours after they were arrested. The two among others were placed in police custody for planning to lead an outlawed demonstration in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Tundu Lissu was arrested at his home Monday morning in the presence of a heavily armed police force and quickly whisked to Oysterbay police station in Dar es Salaam. No information was given during his arrest.
On his part, Freeman Mbowe was also picked when addressing press conferences as well as planning to start the protest. Just like Lissu’s case, no information was provided by the police during Mbowe’s arrest.
Lissu and Mbowe were released Monday evening. Also released is Chadema cadre Godbless Lema
