The vice Chairman of Tanzania’s Chadema party, John Heche, has been stopped from traveling to Kenya to attend the funeral of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. Heche was stopped at the Sirari border post in Tarime District, Mara Region.
According to information obtained from Chadema’s Serengeti Regional Secretary, Jackson Mnyawami, immigration officials took away Heche’s passport without giving him any reasons for blocking him from traveling to Kenya.
It’s worth noting that on October 17, 2025, the Tanzanian government had a delegation that attend the state funeral service for the late Raila Odinga, led by Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango and former President Dr. Jakaya Kikwete.
Heche had been instructed by Chadema leader Tundu Lissu, who is in detention, to represent him at the funeral in Bondo, Raila’s hometown.
