A new wave of youth engagement is sweeping across Kenya, led by Dr. Cassypool’s “Ongea Ikutoke” campaign, which seeks to amplify Gen Zs’ voices and encourage them to take up leadership positions in the 2027 elections. The initiative, launched by Dr. Cassypool, also known as Kevin Odhiambo, aims to give young Kenyans a platform to be heard by their leaders and shape the country’s political future.

With over 14 million Gen Zs eligible to vote, representing a 79.4% increase from 2022, this demographic is poised to play a significant role in shaping Kenya’s politics. The “Ongea Ikutoke” campaign is expected to involve East African heads of state, including President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania, President William Ruto of Kenya, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, and South Sudanese leaders, to amplify the voices of youth.
Cassypool says he will also use his vast networks with business people, top celebrities, and senior government officials to link up youth with opportunities.
”I have friends all over Eastern Africa, which includes presidents, ministers, presidents’ children, business partners, and top celebrities who are willing to be part of this initiative.” Said Cassypool..
He added, ” Even Tanzania musicians Ali Kiba and Diamond Platnumz, among other top musicians, will be part of the Ongea Ikutoke initiative”

The Gen Z movement has already demonstrated its influence through protests and online activism, and now, leaders like Dr. Cassypool are urging them to channel this energy into voting and leadership. “The tool of change is the vote,” says Cassypool, emphasizing the importance of youth participation.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set a target to register 6.3 million new voters, primarily youth, ahead of the 2027 elections. This move is seen as a crucial step in empowering Gen Zs to shape Kenya’s political landscape.

As Kenya’s politicians scramble to connect with Gen Zs, the outcome of the 2027 elections hangs in the balance. One thing is certain: Gen Zs are determined to make their voices heard.
However, he has warned that ”Ongea Ikutoke” initiative is apolitical and does not align with any political party.

The “Ongea Ikutoke” campaign is a call to action, and it’s up to young Kenyans to seize this opportunity to shape their future.
