#KENYA: Housemaid stabs Kilifi Chief Officer to death

Kilifi Chief Officer for the Blue Economy Rahab Karisa died Thursday morning after her housemaid allegedly stabbed her to death.

Ms Karisa, who jetted back from an official trip to Italy, was stabbed to death at her home in Mnarani area of Kilifi town following a quarrel over an alleged loss of an unknown amount of money.

Kilifi County Police Commander Fatuma Hadi confirmed the incident and added that police officers had already moved the body to a morgue within Kilifi Town as investigations commence.

“This morning, we received information that a crime had been committed and rushed to the scene where we found out that a chief officer in the County Government of Kilifi had succumbed to injuries inflicted on her by her house help,” she told journalists.

Ms Hadi said police had recovered the knife used to stab the chief officer and were still pursuing the assailant.

Meanwhile, Kilifi County Governor Gideon Mung’aro expressed shock, disbelief and profound sadness as she announced the chief officer’s demise.

“Rahab was a young, talented and hardworking officer and her future was bright,” Mung’aro said in a press statement.

He called on security agencies to move with speed to arrest the culprit so that she can face the full force of the law, adding that his administration would work closely with the family in the burial arrangements.

“On behalf of my family, the County Government and the people of Kilifi, I send my condolences to Rahab’s family and friends,” he said.
