A peace deal between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda aimed at ending decades of conflict in eastern DRC paves the way for “a new era of stability”, Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi said Monday.
The government emphasized that this move reflects Rwanda’s dedication to safeguarding its national interests, maintaining peace, and upholding sovereignty and mutual respect.
Under President Paul Kagame’s three-decade rule, political dissent and free speech have been crushed, with international campaigners long decrying the shrinking civil rights space in the small east African country.
