The World Liberty Congress has also called on the Tanzanian government to immediately and unconditionally release Tundu Lissu, while urging the international community, democratic governments and human rights organizations to closely monitor his situation.
In light of all the tribulations that Tanzanians went through during and after the general elections, Lissu has wished all the affected persons God’s grace as they pick up the pieces.
Lissu’s case has global attention. Today’s courtroom saw several heads of missions and diplomatic corps in attendance.
In 2024, telecoms firm Tigo was heavily accused of helping the government track the location of Tundu Lissu, who was later targeted in a failed assassination attempt.
Lissu insisted that his case be heard in person, arguing that his physical presence in court was crucial, as per the law.
