The Ugandan Police Force has denied allegations that an officer shot and injured opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, well known as Bobi Wine.
According to its statement on its X page on Tuesday, the UPF alleged that Bobi Wine stumbled while getting into his car and that the injuries he sustained were not from a gunshot.
However, Bobi Wine has condemned the statement from the UPF, through a circulated online video on their X account, that revealed an order of his assassination before the attempt.
The NUP President was allegedly shot at on Tuesday as he was attending a Thanksgiving ceremony staged by Lawyer George Musisi in Bulindo, Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Eyewitnesses claim that police officers arrived at the scene and attempted to disperse the crowd, leading to a confrontation with Bobi Wine and his supporters.
Bobi Wine has been admitted to Nsambya Hospital for urgent medical attention due to the serious injuries he incurred.
