The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the leader of Hamas in Gaza for war crimes.
Karim Khan says there is credible evidence that the two were responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity from 7 October 2023.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and its military chief Mohammed Deif are also wanted for arrest.
The ICC, based in The Hague, has been investigating Israel’s actions in the occupied territories for three years – and more recently Hamas’ actions as well.
Mr Netanyahu recently called the prospect of senior Israeli leaders joining the ICC’s wanted list a “historic outrage”.
