I Have No Intention to Resign, I Will Fight to the End!- DP Rigathi Gachagua

Deputy President of Kenya Rigathi Gachagua has firmly dismissed calls for his resignation, as an impeachment motion against him is set to proceed in the National Assembly. Speaking during a press briefing on Monday night at his official residence in Karen, Gachagua described those urging him to step down as “jokers” and emphasized that he has no plans to leave office voluntarily.

“Anybody telling me to resign is a joker,” he said. “I was elected by 7.2 million Kenyans. How dare you suggest I resign without public participation?” he added.

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse who is leading the push for Gachagua’s impeachment, accuses him of several wrongdoings, including misconduct, undermining President William Ruto, and corruption. Gachagua has denied all the accusations, calling them a “political witchhunt” and highlighting his trust in the country’s legal system.

“This impeachment is based on outrageous accusations,” Gachagua stated. He expressed disappointment with some members of the National Assembly, accusing them of drifting away from their duty to serve Kenyans.

Gachagua vowed to fight the allegations and remain in office, reiterating, “I will get justice and carry out my duties as Deputy President. Resigning is not an option.”
