A brazen arson attack has struck the home of a police officer in the Chitete ward of Ileje district, Songwe region. The incident, which occurred on the night of October 22, 2025, has left the officer’s family devastated, with property worth over 2 million Tanzanian shillings destroyed.

According to eyewitnesses, unknown individuals set fire to the house while Police Inspector Nsajigwa Mwajeka was on special duty. The fire ravaged two rooms, consuming everything in its path, including civilian clothes, police uniforms, household items, maize, a bed, and a mattress.
