Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto is set to address the nation on Thursday evening, State House has announced, in a Special National Address whose subject was not disclosed in the alert sent to the newsroom.

According to the State House communication, the President will deliver the address from State House, Nairobi, at 7:00 p.m.

The alert hinted that President Ruto’s address would focus on charting the way forward for the nation’s development and the gains achievable under an ambitious vision.

This comes a week after he received a report dubbed ‘Developing a New National Vision: Journey to a First World Economy’.

The report lays the foundation for the successor to Vision 2030, the blueprint that has guided national planning and economic policy since its implementation in 2008.

 

President Ruto said he was impressed by the many issues the report raises on the strategic direction the country has already begun pursuing, including the establishment of the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

“These institutions form part of a broader strategy that is already guiding Kenya’s long-term transformation into a competitive first-world country,” he said while receiving the report in State House.

He pointed out that the government will study the report’s proposals carefully and invited Kenyans to submit their views.

 

Likewise, it also comes against a backdrop of intensifying political activity as the country edges toward the 2027 General Election, with realignments, defections, and succession battles already reshaping the landscape more than a year out from the polls.

 

It also lands amid growing public concern over insecurity, an issue that has dominated national conversation in recent weeks and one Kenyans will be watching to see whether the President addresses.
