The new law — expected to generate more than $2.1 billion — will hike taxes on basic goods and services including food and mobile money transfers.
The proposed legislation calls for new or increased taxes on a wide range of items including fuel and food as well as beauty products, crypto currencies and social media influencers.
“By the end of next week, the prices of maize flour will go down owing to the arrival of imported maize flour”- Ruto said
