Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has once again failed to appear in court for the seventh time regarding the abduction of three men in Kitengela.
Masengeli has instead, sent his Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat to represent him.
Due to his actions the High Court is expected at 1 pm to rule on whether it issue punishment on him for disobeying orders.
In response to Masengeli’s defiance of court orders, former LSK President Nelson Havi requested that Justice Lawrence Mugambi sentence him to six months in civil jail.
“The conduct of IG must be dealt with by the court and in the strongest terms possible,” he said.
“We ask you to convict the holder of the office of IG for contempt of court. Sentence him to the highest penal consequence. The office he holds is not a personal but public office,” he added.
Court had ordered Acting IG Gilbert Masengeli to appear in court for the 7th time to explain the whereabouts of activist Robert Njagi and two brothers allegedly abducted by police at Kitengela August 19 2024.
