Fly Skyward Airline Launches Inaugural Flight from Nairobi to Garissa

The launch follows recent upgrades at Garissa Airstrip, which have improved the facility’s infrastructure and operational readiness, paving the way for increased air services to the region.

KCAA Chairman Mr. Brown Ondego, EBS, joined Skyward Express management, senior government officials, and other stakeholders to witness the historic occasion.

Boost for Trade, Tourism and Investment

The new route is expected to enhance accessibility to Garissa, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and drive growth in tourism, trade, investment, and socio-economic activity across North Eastern Kenya.

The event was graced by Garissa County Governor H.E. Nathif Jama Adam, alongside Kenya Airports Authority MD/CEO Moses Wekesa, and Ag. Director, Air Transport at the Ministry of Roads and Transport, Samson Karau, who represented Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Teresia Mbaika. Other distinguished guests and aviation stakeholders also attended.

Flight Schedule

Skyward Express will operate the service four times a week — Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Flights depart Wilson Airport at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in Garissa at 11:50 a.m., offering travelers a faster alternative to road transport.

Officials said the scheduled service marks a significant step in integrating Garissa and the wider region into the national air transport network and creating new economic opportunities for residents.
