President Samia ‘’extremely happy’’ no Zanzibaris were arrested during election

The United Republic of Tanzania President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has commended the people of Zanzibar for conducting a peaceful general election in 2025, saying she was “extremely happy” that the process was completed without incidents of abductions or arrests.

President Samia congratulated Zanzibaris for upholding peace and stability during and after the polls.

“I congratulate and greet the people of Zanzibar this year. We held an election, and no one was abducted or arrested, right? We went ahead; we did it in peace and calm, didn’t we? Knowing that we are all Zanzibaris, aren’t we?” the President said.

President Samia said the peaceful conduct of the election reflects the maturity of Zanzibaris and their commitment to democracy. She emphasized that despite political competition, unity among the people of the Isles remains the most important asset.

The President noted that a calm electoral process allows the government and citizens to focus on development priorities instead of division.

Authorities and election observers had reported a largely tranquil voting period across Unguja and Pemba. The President’s remarks come as part of broader efforts to encourage national cohesion following elections.

“The peace we have shown is our strength. Let us protect it,” President Samia added.
