Nairobi/23 June 2026 – Edgar Edson Mwakabela, alias “Sativa”, has marked two years since his brutal abduction in June 2024. In a personal statement shared today, Sativa recounted being found unconscious with serious gunshot injuries. If that was not enough, he continues to face threats.

Sativa was picked up by people believed to be police officers in Dar es Salaam, tortured, and later dumped in Katavi Game Reserve.  He was found “unconscious inside the game reserve in the Katavi region with gunshot wounds on his head.

Sativa only credits his survival to “the grace of God”. He positively identified members of the Tanzania Police Force, @tanpol, and named Faustine Jackson Mafwele, a Senior Assistant Commissioner in the Tanzania Police Force, as the person who ordered his abduction and enforced disappearance.

Mwakabela also thanked supporters for standing with him “throughout these two years of fighting against what he termed as ‘BLACK COLONIZERS’.

“MY SMILE is the rod that torments MAFWELE until he goes to his GRAVE because he is the one who ordered my abduction and for me to be  disappeared, but by the grace of GOD I AM ALIVE.”
